 Office of the Chief Controller of Imports & Exports (CCI&E)

 

     Afroza Khan is a seasoned and passionate civil servant. She started her career, joining Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Administrative Cadre in 1988. During her long 27 years of career, she has served Government of Bangladesh with dedication and had opportunity to work in different Ministries of the government. She has worked for long time in the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. She was a consultant for a brief stint in ILO, Dhaka office. She happens to be member of different professional bodies concerning civil service in Bangladesh. Recently she has joined as CCI&E.

    Immediately before joining CCI&E, she worked as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Industries where she was a senior team member in the International Cooperation Wing and her principal responsibilities included negotiating and signing of bilateral investment promotion and protection agreements and other treaties with foreign countries and dealing with the issues concerning the tasks of the Ministry of Industries, in different international and regional organizations such as WIPO, WTO, UNIDO, SAARC, BIMSTEC, APTA etc. She has represented Bangladesh on behalf of the Ministry of Industries in various bilateral investment agreement negotiations with different countries.

     She has undergone through different senior level trainings of high repute at both home and aboard. Major civil service trainings include Advanced Course on Administration and Development (ACAD); and Managing at the Top (MATT-2). She was trained on procurement in the International Training Centre (ITC-ILO), at Turin, Italy. She has been a Certified National Trainer of Procurement and a regular speaker in different national training institutes. She has a rich experience of travelling over 20 countries of different continents in connection with career related trainings, workshops and other official purposes.

     She graduated from the University of Dhaka and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA.  She loves travelling, listening to music and humanitarian activities.

     She is happily married to Mr. Masud Ahmed Khan and they have two sons, Ahmed Sadin Tazwar Khan and Ahmed Samin Tazwar Khan.
